AfterMATTh Vol. 1: We "Suck"ed

Greetings, In Bed Society! Matt here, back in the In Bed Studios after Phil and I were just at the Cascadia.fm studios earlier today.

We're introducing a revolutionary concept, here on our Blogspot page... BLOGGING! Crazy, I know. Phil and I are going to react to shows, events, or really anything, and post blogs on here from time to time. I've come up with the insanely clever name for mine: AfterMATTh. Do you get it? Because it has my name it it.

So, the big day has come and gone, and we made our long-awaited live appearance on the infamous Suck It™ internet radio show. Or, I guess I should call it a "program" since it's only audio, and we didn't "show" anybody anything. Also, what's the deal with Ovaltine? It's in a round container. It should be called Roundtine. Also, I'm a tool bag.

To be honest, I wasn't sure what to expect today. We usually pre-tape our show in the warmth and safety of my living room, or Phil's dining nook. It's really a table, but I like to call it a nook. Because that's the kind of person I am. Fancy.

But anyway! Today, we hopped in our stretched Yaris limo, and ventured into the heart (or perhaps lung) of downtown Portland to go LIVE for the first time ever from the official Cascadia.fm studios!

We were greeted in the studio lobby by the hardest working woman in Portland internet radio, Sabrina Miller. Sabrina is the co-host of Suck It™ and several other shows on Cascadia.fm. She chatted with us for a bit before we went up to the studio, which, I have to admit, is much nicer and a tad bit more sophisticated than the In Bed Studios. Just a sconce. And I really hope they don't miss the soundboard I stuffed down my pants on the way out.

We entered the studio as Jay Mackin was finishing up his show, UniBash Radio. Jay was actually the one who first approached us on Twitter about featuring our podcast on Cascadia.fm (pdx.fm at the time). I'll never forget how excited we were when he Tweeted us that night. Let's just say there was a lot of giggling. Also, we really appreciate the giant bear-hug Jay gave us, in lieu of a handshake, when introducing himself. You usually don't get that kind of affection during a first meeting, unless you pay for it. I'm actually kinda worried that we appeared rude. We just quietly sat there on the couch, at first, because it was so quiet in there between shows, and we weren't sure if it was appropriate to make noise. But trust me, we were equally excited to see Jay.

We were also excited to meet Robert Wagner in person for the first time. Robert is the creator and king of Cascadia.fm, as well as the host of Suck It™. He was even kind enough to give us a gift! During the show, he presented us with a "Clone-a-Pussy" erotic candy bar kit. Which was, of course, #1 on our Christmas wish list.

Like I said, I wasn't sure what to expect. I'm a naturally nervous and shy person, and really bad at first impressions. (You can imagine how well I do in job interviews.) To be honest, I was a bit disappointed in my performance on the show today. I couldn't really think of anything funny to say. I didn't really feel like I did a good job representing what our show, In Bed with Matt and Phil, is all about, or contributing anything special to Robert and Sabrina's show. I wanted to be a good guest for them because I think it's a big deal for us, that they're willing to have us on their show, not to mention their network every week. But I just worry that I came across as lame. I don't know, maybe I'm being too hard on myself. Oh! The episode is available on www.suckit.fm. Okay, so I just listened to it. I guess I didn't do as bad as I originally thought. This also happens when we have guests on our show that I don't know very well. While we're taping, I feel like I'm not doing a good job, but then as I'm editing the show, I realize it's better than I thought it was. I think maybe it's hard to overcome the general personal awkwardness I feel when meeting someone new. But still, I wish I could've been funnier. Oh well!

Overall, it was a great experience being on Suck It™! I hope everyone who listened enjoyed the show. And I hope people who couldn't listen live will check it out. Phil and I were very grateful for the opportunity to be on Suck It™ today, and to be on Cascadia.fm every single week. Big thanks to Sabrina and Robert for making it possible. Also, stay tuned for this Monday's episode when we try to figure out what the hell we're going to do with this Clone-A-Pussy! The hijinks will ensue! How the hell do you spell hijinks?
